Tom Cappello has been in the food industry since 1977 after graduating Fordham University in 1976. Starting with a pizzeria in Runnemede NJ, he has since conquered a multitude of restaurants and food service endeavors. A strategic move to Seaside Heights in 1980 led him to open Pizza Star, and simultaneously Kuppers French Fries made in Italy, and Tommy's Food Court in the old Chatterbox building. The eclectic operations didn't stop there for him, and Frankie's Food Court was soon opened in the old Maruca's on Dupont Avenue. On a constant search fro new and exciting challenges, he decided to conquer the Staten Island Mall in 1992 until 1999, where he took over South Philly Steak and Fries, and Brooklyn Bagel Deli. In 1999 he created Gaetano's Italian restaurant in Red Bank, NJ which he opened in the same space that once housed famous Ludwigs Delicatessen- which had been operating there since 1954. In January of 2016, Tom partnered and took over Mr. Pizza Slice on Monmouth Street in Red Bank, which had been situated there for 43 years and counting. With 40 years of knowledge in the restaurant business, Tom Cappello has not only made a name for himself, but for his work ethic, product quality, and diverse range of food to suit and taste.
